Jean Lafitte, a Jewish pirate, was born around 1780. In his prime, he ran not just one pirate ship but a whole ?eet! In 1814, the British sought his aid in their pending attack on New Orleans. However, he passed the plans on to the Americans and helped General Andrew Jackson, future president, to beat the British in 1815. To this day there is a town of Jean Lafitte and a Jean Lafitte National Historical Park in Louisiana.
